Directions to Put-in-Bay, South Bass Island, Ohio

Put-in-Bay is the village located on South Bass Island, one of the three Bass Islands located in Lake Erie’s western basin. Put-in-Bay, South Bass Island is located just three miles north of Port Clinton, Ohio accessible by ferry boat, private boat or small aircraft. The two ferries servicing the island are the Jet Express (passenger ferry) out of downtown Port Clinton and downtown Sandusky, which docks at downtown Put-in-Bay, and the Miller Boat Line (passenger and auto ferry) out of Catawba which docks at the southern tip of the island.

South Bass Island is located about 75 miles west of Cleveland, 45 miles east of Toledo and 130 miles north of Columbus. Port Clinton and Catawba can be reached by St. Rt. 2, taking exits St. Rt. 163 and St. Rt. 53 respectively. Ohio Turnpike exits are St. Rt. 53 N (coming from Toledo) and St. Rt. 4 N (coming from Cleveland).
